About the event
Electrical fires are one of the major causes of disasters in industries, power plants and substations. The causes may be short circuit, overleads or loose connections. Such disasters are highly unpleasant and cause significant loss to life and property. We are offering solutions to cater the same through real time temperature monitoring of electrical assets through Fibre Optic Technology.
It's our pleasure to introduce to you AP Sensing leaders in Fibre Optic measurements. Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard started a test and measurement company in a garage in Palo Alto, California back in 1939. We know that company as HP, the famous computer and laptop manufacturing company based in the USA. In 2007 AP Sensing was started with a different business model dedicated and focused on providing thermal and acoustic measurements using Fibre Optic technology.
Today, AP Sensing offers distributed optical sensing technology (DTS, distributed temperature sensing, DAS, distributed acoustic sensing, DVS, distributed vibration sensing) for a wide range of applications. Based on our HP/Agilent heritage, with over 35 years of optical measurement expertise, we stand for top quality and well-designed solutions.
Please find attached application note for Busbar, BusDucts and Switchgear monitoring using Fibre Optic Cables. This technology offers cost effective electrical asset condition monitoring on a larger scale. Making it a highly practically scalable solution. The solution can be extended to monitoring of other areas and assets also for overheating and fire prevention.
The technology is simple, the fibre optic cable acts as temperature sensor and is run through all the switchgear, busbars, bus ducts and all the probable places where there is a risk of overheating. The fibre optic cable is able to detect the rise in temperature at any point on the cable and is able to give exact temperature and distance. Advanced analytics software creates a map and heat profile of complete assets under test which helps in pinpointing the exact point of failure.
